5 mil JPY is about 60,000USD right now, give or take. For the time, NR was more expensive, close to 100K in today's money, and they're going for over 100K used today.

So, all these considered, its a bargain. Honda is getting more economically minded. The 2013 CRF450R is the first new motocrosser they have EVER released that was not more expensive than its predecessor.

After 5 years of averaging 85:1 JPY/USD exchange rate in their largest market, they are finally starting to figure out that they need to make up for that 15% somehow. Suzuki learned the hard way.

Due to the world's economic state, with America and Europe purchasing slow downs, China has been Japan's largest buyer.
Unfortunately, a dispute of land between Japan and China caused China to boycott many Japanese products, causing a big dip in Japan's economy and slide back into a recession, while the U.S. economy is on a slight upward pattern.
So currently the yen to dollar rate is not as strong as it was earlier.

I lived there for 5 years and paying rent/utilities in Yen sucks when your paycheck is in USD. When you negotiate your salary at a 110:1 exchange rate, and then it dips to 85:1 that is like getting a 25% paycut just for getting out of bed.

I still hate this exhaust design. I know it's for the bikes better center of weight positioning but it is really ugly.

I am also amazed that it has such a huge rear break rotor....looks like Yamaha's V-Max

I cannot make out if it is equipped with Ohlins and Brembo or Showa and Nissin...although both assemblies are too goldish to be the second combination.

As I understand it, this is a proto-type. Maybe it's not a for sure thing. I found a commentary about that magazine, translated it from Italian.

The photos, published by GPone (which I find more, than the two proposed by us), refer to the Japanese magazine ' Young Machine ", previously the author of several false scoops , such as the Yamaha R4 (or, if you prefer, YZF-250R) announced even in 2008 and still never reached the market. This does not mean that this time things are not otherwise, and that the one shown is not the final version of the bike (the other cases I had already shown HERE ), but some doubt, in fact, is s ... oprattutto given the time announced by Honda for this project, which should not see the light until 2014.

The Japanese Magazine "Young Machine" shows half in an advanced stage of planning , and even rushing to assume the prices for the two versions will be produced: q uella road to 48,000 Euro, and the one covering the competitions, the " Production Racer ", about 289,000 Euro .

The only thing worse is when it drops to 77:1.....then the panic sets in.

I spotted that artwork on another message board as well - believe "asphalt and rubber" online magazine also has a version posted online, something from a graphic designer called "Bar Design" (?) or similar. Anyways, I think it's important to remember that the above is a CONCEPT.

YMMV and all that stuff... :)

I've heard it stated here that the street RC51's that we own have not one bolt the same as the race version. Will the same be true of the RCV1? I'm assuming it's supposed to be a copy of the RC21xV?

A very, very distant copy for $130K.
The satellite RCV213s cost over $1M per year just to rent.

I'm thinking these bikes may be the next step up from current CRT bikes, but nowhere near the caliber of current premier factory bikes.

Of course, if they keep dulling the edge of the factory bikes with lower RPM ceilings and spec ECUs, then they may have a chance.

Since Dorna is running the MotoGP and WSBK shows, who knows what the future may hold.

I hope they don't screw too much with WSBK.
I like watching MotoGP for the high-tech, but the racing action is better in WSBK and Moto2.

So no real info yet on the release of the new RC (likely 2014) but it is in the works and it is a V4 superbike. It'll likely have about as much in common with the full race 213 as our RC's do/did, which is to say little in actual componentry. I really don't give a rat's ass about that, I'm just glad it's going to happen.

That's just cool. Can't wait to see a production model.

That's Kar Design (Kar Lee). He also did the RC51 concept illustration, which is surprisingly missing on his web site.
