I cheated in two ways.
1) I originally bought a replacement cartridge kit which contains their own shorter top-out springs.
2) I then ran across a set of Ohlins (forks which I bought) which have much shorter top-out springs.
I believe you can buy shorter top-springs from Race-Tech (if memory serves).
I want to change my top out springs, but am not sure which is the best length to get, and also, how much do I add to the spacer to make up for the shorter top out spring?
Do you know if the top out springs from Race-Tech include a replacement spacer as well?
Who made the cartridge kit that you installed? I want to do my entire front forks, but after the cost of replacing both the valves, shims, bushings, damping needles, and top-out springs. It may be more economical just to buy a complete cartridge replacement kit.
I got my cartridge kit from Traxxion Dynamics.
I first contacted Race-Tech and they wanted $1400 for their cartridge kit.
Ohlins cartridge kit was around $1600.
So I went with Traxxion's at $995.
The Race-Tech and Ohlins kits were 25mm vs the 20mm kit from Traxxion.
Theoretically the 25mm should be superior, but those were too rich my budget.
I haven't yet installed the kit yet due to weather and illness last year.
And since then I ran across the Ohlins forks, so I'm off on a different tangent with them.
However I do plan on installing the cartridges eventually as a backup.
