Valve Lash Check

Have 04 with 1900 miles. First service at 500 miles, valve lash was not checked. Next service at 4000. Should I insist?

Not a racing bike. My new bike service agreement said they were to check at the first service, but it did not show up on my receipt. Just wondering. Thanks for the info.
