Hey guys new here and I am about to purchase a 2004 Honda vtr 1000 and it's the super hawk. I was wondering if it would be possible to convert it over to a rv51. I know it looks almost identical but I would think the rake and spring rate and forks would be different. I'm Pretty sure some of you would like to see it done and if all goes well I will document it very well I did build a 2001 r6 in 2 months from scratch and rode it till I sold it so I'm used to modding and wrenching please let me know very soon thanks guys. Also give some ideas on if it isnt that far of a reach of what parts to use and stuff of that nature.

Thanks been doing that an found just that and maybe some fairings is about it. They seem to argue a lot about the difference between what the bike is called worldwide and what the rc51 is and isn't compared to the super hawk so more research it is till I just dive into it and do it from what I have found so far engine wise rc51= 2cc bigger and geared cct I haven't found much more but that's with 20 min of research thanks.

Well, to set the fact correctly.. I own (6) S-hawks and (2) RC-51 , and i do not think the bikes look that much alike.. Madbuyer is correct , S-hawk owner have put the 2000-2001 SP1 frontends on the S-hawk, yet that is about as much-that is possible..
There is nothing between the two bikes that are similar.. There is NO engine component that will interchange. The RC-51 engine is wider/than S-hawk. Suspension is of race standards, not touring..
Yes it is possible, as with all motorcycles to do some Modifications on the Superhawk.
Yet making the S-hawk a RC-51 replication is alot of time and money -with NO pay off..
Just is not possible to be the same..
Enjoy the S-hawk for what she is -

Lol thank you for the clarification. I understood the engine and stuff I should have stated that earlier. I guess what I was looking for was changing stuff like fairings and pc3? I understand that when you take a sport model/ sport touring model that you can hardly ever get them to act let alone preform much like the super sport big brother. I guess just the look is what I'm going for and in the of it can't be done don't fix what Japan came up with in the first place.

Being that all years of the S-hawk are carbed (and the largest carbs, honda has ever used) There is no PC3 that will interchange.
Add fork springs, rear shock, a set and ride the S-hawk. or find a RC-51 :)

For the prices that RC's are going for these days, just buy an RC if that is what you want. They are two very different bikes with different riding positions and nothing swaps over easily besides forks (which is true of most Honda models).

As for converting, I have a friend that just bought a super chicken recently and he said he saw a few guys that had swapped RC fairings over on the superhawk forum. I really think that and the front suspension are the only things that will swap over. There is a guy on speedzilla that has an SP2 swinger on a super chicken, but I don't remember who it was or how much work was involved.
