I have my case cover off to fix my clutch. While looking at the impeller of the water pump, I notice that it turns with some resistance. Is this normal? Should it turn lightly with little resistance? Is the seal working, so it just feels this way? Do I replace it since I dont know its history. This will be going on my track bike. Might be piece of mind to do it.
Also, I plan to replace my o-rings around the pump. I see that there are no gaskets for the case cover. Do I just use some gasket sealant and bolt it together?

Thanks for some advice.

Nobody here has turned the water pump impeller by hand? I take it that they are not a common breakage and maybe I should not be worried. It is not broke or leaking. Just has more resistance than I thought it would have.

yes there's going to be resistance. it has a mechanical seal in it. they don't turn easily at all.
