Great spectacle yesterday during AMA's Superbike race #1. Leader Blake Young tangles with Hayes and skids on his shoulder and elbow for 100 yards, at least. Gets up off the tarmac, then restarts in last place due to his red flag incidence. Gets by all of the "fluff" within one lap and bears down on the Yamaha pair for an eventual overtake and great clean racing for the last two laps.
Wow.
Can't wait for tomorrow. Road Atlanta has created some real classics over the years. Willow Springs and Brainard used to create/have this type of racing.

One race does not a season make.....AMA is not even at the hot trash level.

WERA has better competition than AMA. Sorry fellas....I am not a believer.

I am no fan of the AMA at all but i dont see WERA on tv... Ill take what i can get to be honest. Would rather watch BSB for sure
Me too, BSB to me is on the same level as WSBK. Tracks are a bit smaller, so it keeps it interesting. The gaps never seem to get overly big, and although there are race favorites, the podium is always up for grabs. Keeps it exciting, especially now with some ex WSBK/motogp guys joining in. Never got into AMA, seems like it has taken a few big steps backward from when Hayden was there and when Ben Bostrom was at his prime. Used to be a good stepping stone to WSBK.....does not seem that way anymore, seems more like a dead end for many riders there. I think Spies was the last big name to come from there.

Then again you can't blame the series too much, not much interest in motorcycle racing here int he US. not like Europe. The reason i see that is, cars are big here in the US. It is hard to live in america and not own a car unless you are in a city. Motorcycles are recreational and in most peoples opinion (not mine) scooters are "gay". Everywhere else in the world, scooters get people around and cars are a privelege. Therefore i think more people in Europe connect to motorcycle racing and people here in the US tend to gravitate to....NASCAR and not even a real race car series. Just my thoughts.

To me AMA is a bunch of spoiled brats...... When they were at Heartland they wanted everything so, so. The track made the adjustments they asked for and then several riders still refused to ride. The rider association gave the track two years to make corrections however AMA pulled out after the first year and all the mods the track had made prior to when they were suppose to.
The track still lives off what it makes for NHRA os it's hard for them to make some of the changes right away.
I was hoping to see more racing going on here but I think the times have hit hard on all racing.
