I'm new to the honda forums and to the new rc51sp2.

So i have an 03 with an undertail kit on it. Purchased the bike that way but the previous owner never hooked up the tail segment.

I can only assume I have wired something incorrectly as now the turn signals dont work at all. (hoping fuse)

the symtoms
no turn signal flashing what so ever. not even on gauge cluster
brake like illuminates but does not brighten upon braking at either front or rear braking levers.

Does anyone specificaly know the exact color codes for the rear brake and standard illumination. also for the Front turn signals as well just so that i know i'm diagnosing all the components correctly. Polarity would also be helpful.

Ive searched but alot of the threads didn't really fall under the issue i was having. I have no other electrical gremlins so to speak of either. Headlamps ignition and all that good stuff works well. including the light wich was retained to illuminate the license plate.

Thanks for all your help in advance guys and hopefully this newbie will be ready to ride soon.

oh and the light are LED so i know they will blink fast.

Brake/Taillight:
Green/Yellow = Brake Light
Green = Ground
Black/Brown = Tail Light

License Plate Light:
Black/Brown = License Plate Light (same electrical point as above)
Green = Ground

Left Rear Turn Signal:
Orange = Signal
Green = Ground

Right Rear Turn Signal:
Light-Blue = Signal
Green = Ground

Front Left Turn Signal/Running Light:
Orange = Signal
Orange/White = Running Light
Green = Ground

Front Right Turn Signal/Running Light:
Light-Blue = Signal
Light-Blue/White = Running Light
Green = Ground

Turn Signal Blowing Fuses...

Sorry for the late post but I am having a similar problem. I noticed having the same non flashing turn signal lights and found that a fuse was blown. I replaced the fuse and found that the fuse only blows when i use the left turn signal. Haven't found a solution to this one but I did change the signal switch, and the issue remains. Any ideas?

Fuses only blow for 1 reason. Too much current passing through.
Usually due to a short.
I would check the front and rear left signal wiring paths and see if you have a short somewhere.

I thought the short may have been in the switch but that turned out not to be the case. I changed the fuse and unplugged the flasher relay and it produced the same symptom only the fuse didn't blow. Plugged the relay back in and regained normal operation of the turn signals minus the left one of course. Is the turn signal flasher relay something that will wear out?

Yes it can.
It's a mechanical thermal type flasher unit.
It uses a bi-metallic element that heats up with current and then breaks contact, cools off and regains contact, then repeats, until cancelled.

That's why it flashes too quickly with LEDs.
There's not enough current to heat the flasher element and it cools off and makes contact quicker.

You were right on with that one, I believe the flasher relay is ok, I did a continuity test on one of the wires that I thought was the culprit and it is grounding out, I will supply the color of the wire a little later to make sure its not a ground that I'm testing. Thanks for your help. You're definitely letting me know I'm headed in the right direction.

Do both of your front running lights work ok? Especially the left one?
One of the functions the signal switch does is switches power from the front running light to the signal light that's selected.

Found the problem!........almost.

Thanks for all your help between you and pop I have the problem narrowed down to a spot around the rectifier on the left side. I took all the fairings off and checked my signal and it was working! this was after I was fiddling around with the harness on the left side. Something might be getting pinched ill straighten it all out before motoGP!!:D

Be careful when lifting the fuel tank.
The rear wiring harness passes very close on the left side, and it's fairly common that wires can get pinched if too hasty.

Honda even has a plastic twist tie the attaches to the harness and shock mount to try and hold the harness away.

Always lift the tank slowly and watch for the harness.

Hey guys I'm having issues with the rear right turn signal. I saw the diagram and located my green and blue wires. As for the wires that come from the turn signals themselves, they won't work when I connect everything. I have two pics, one is the green and blue wires with new connectors. Second pic is a displace of the turn signal wires. Both of the turn signal wires are skinny red and white. All other turn signals work fine. The rear right never worked so I'd like to make it work.
